Cougars Awarded Sixth Seed in Aqua Bracket at CCSA Championships

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston beach volleyball team will be the No. 6 seed in the Aqua Bracket at the 2021 Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Championship and take on third seeded TCU in the opening round on Friday, April 23 at 2:00 p.m. ET at the John Hunt Sand Volleyball Complex in Huntsville, Ala. announced CCSA officials Monday.
The Cougars carry a 10-11-1 record into the CCSA Championship after posting a 2-1 record at the Palmetto Invitational this past weekend with wins over Erskine and UNCW. Charleston has earned four sweeps this season and taken at least one flight against four teams that were either ranked or receiving votes in the AVCA poll at the time.
Ella Reames and Maria Zweig have led the way for the Cougars for much of the season entering the CCSA Championships with a 14-8 record. Sky Benjamin and Rebeca Olariu have compiled an 11-11 record in the top flight while Ella Ridinger and Kyra Thompson carry eight wins into the postseason.
The Aqua Bracket will feature eight teams including the Cougars. Florida State is the top seed followed by LSU, TCU, South Carolina, Tulane, Charleston, Missouri State and UNCW. The Blue Bracket will be comprised of Georgia State, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, UAB, Southern Mississippi and Louisiana-Monroe. Each bracket will compete for its own championship.
The Cougars will open the weekend against No. 3 seed TCU on Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. ET. The winner of that match will advance to face the winner of LSU/Missouri State on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. ET with the loser facing the loser of the LSU/Missouri State match in an elimination contest on Friday at 5:00 p.m. ET.
