Cougars Set Sail at Singlehanded Nationals This Weekend

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- Three College of Charleston sailors will represent the Maroon and White and compete for the first national championships of the 2020-21 season this weekend at the ICSA Men's and Women's Singlehanded National Championships on Saturday and Sunday in Newport, R.I.
Senior Kelly-Ann Arrindell is one of 14 women who will compete for the 2021 ICSA Women's Singlehanded National Championship and the lone representative from the Cougars. Arrindell has qualified for each of the last four national championships and is seeking her first and the program's second title. The Port-of-Spain, Trinidad native placed second as a freshman, third as a sophomore and eighth in 2018.
Senior Benn Smith and freshman Alex Gonzalez will represent the Cougars in the 2021 ICSA Men's Singlehanded National Championship. Both are seeking their first championship individually while also in pursuit of the program's eighth title. Smith is making his third trip to singlehanded nationals after finishing 11th in 2018 and 13th in 2019.
