HARRISONBURG, VA. – Luzy Lieger broke her own school record in the pole vault, and Stephanie Laudien earned points in the triple jump to highlight the final day of the Colonial Athletic Association Track and Field Championships.
Lieger vaulted 4.00m (13 feet, 1 ½) to break the record she set two weeks ago and enable her to finish in second place. She also moved up to a tie for 36th in the East Region with the top 48 qualifying for NCAA postseason competition.
Laudien took sixth place in the triple jump and improved her PR with a leap of 11.85m (38-10 ½). It is the third time she has placed in the top eight at the CAA Championships after taking seventh in 2018 and sixth the past two meets.
Rhian Purves and Kimbra Owens also had PRs in the 1500 and discus, respectively. Purves improved three spots in the CofC record book, taking over seventh place with a time of 4:42.92. Owens remained in eighth place in school history with a throw of 38.85m (127-5).
The 4x400 relay team of Kaitlynn Bailey, Laurie Fogleman, Kayla Porter and Jordan Dean had a strong showing with a season-best time of 4:05.48.
