
Cougars Look to Remain Unbeaten at Home

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Fresh off their victory at the Shriners Children's Charleston Classic, the College of Charleston men's basketball returns to action on Wednesday when the Cougars welcome Kent State to TD Arena. Action is set for 6:00 p.m. in TD Arena.

- The Charleston Cougars and Kent State Golden Flashes both enter tonight's contest with five wins under their belt for the third ever meeting between the programs. The Cougars hold a 2-1 edge in the series, and the teams last met in 2013.
- Charleston is coming off of a thrilling 77-75 over Virginia Tech Sunday to win the Charleston Classic, the first time in program history the Cougars have won their hometown MTE.
- The Cougars received 17 votes in the AP poll and 3 votes in the USA Today poll after opening the season playing six straight 2022 March Madness teams.
- CofC is off to their best start since the 2011-2012 when the Cougars went 12-1 to open the campaign.
- Graduate student Ryan Larson was named the Charleston Classic MVP after posting double figures in all three contests, averaging 53% from the field and 50% from three-point range.
- Despite being the first team the Cougars' have faced this season to not play in last season's NCAA Tournament, Kent State will provide yet another tough battle for CofC as they were picked to finish first in the MAC and win the conference tournament.
- The Golden Flashes closest game this season was a 77-65 win over Portland on November 14. This will be the second road contest of the season for Kent State after opening on the road at Northern Kentucky on November 7.
- Malique Jacobs recorded the Kent State single-game steal record with 10 in the program's victory over Chicago State on November 19.
- Charleston opened the season playing six straight programs that participated in 2022 March Madness (Chattanooga, #1 North Carolina, Richmond, Davidson, Colorado State, Virginia Tech)

- The Cougars have played a solidified ten-man rotation with nine Cougars averaging 14.0 minutes or more per contest.
- In the opening six games, four different Cougars have led the team in scoring (Reyne Smith, Dalton Bolon, Jaylon Scott, Ante Brzovic), while nine have contributed double-digit points during at least one contest.
- The proven system has the Cougars leading the CAA in scoring offense (83.8) as well as free throw percentage (0.789) and steals per game (8.50).
- Graduate transfer guard Ryan Larson has been one of the steadiest Cougars so far this season but was still waiting for his breakout moment. He found it in the Charleston Classic, scoring double-digit points in all three contests to earn MVP honors.
- The Minnesota native averaged 53% from the field and 50% from three-point range during the tournament while averaging 3.3 assists. On the season, he is shooting 46% from the field while averaging 3.2 assists per game. He currently ranks ninth in the league in assists per game.
