Three-Point Shooting Leads Cougars Past Monarchs

CHARLESTON, S.C. -  The College of Charleston men's basketball team secured their sixth straight victory with a dominant 75-60 win over Old Dominion on Tuesday night at TD Arena. The Cougars shot 40.0% from three-point range, their best performance from deep this season.

Reyne Smith found his rhythm early, hitting back-to-back three-pointers to lift the Cougars to a 9-0 lead. Dalton Bolon, who was fouled from behind the line to start the contest, sank one of his own to make it 12-0 Cougars and force a Monarchs' timeout.

ODU slowly worked their way back into the contest as the Cougars struggled from the field after the hot start. The teams traded points until the Monarchs went on a 27-15 run to tie the game at 27-27 with three minutes to go in the half.

A key Bolon steal highlighted the Charleston defense with 18.7 left in the half set up one final offensive possession. Pat Robinson III worked his way through the Monarch defense with ease to give the Cougars a 32-31 halftime lead on a driving finish to the basket. Robinson III led the Cougars with eight points in the first half.

Charleston hit the gas out of the locker room, going on a 14-0 run highlighted by more triples from Smith, Bolon, and Ryan Larson to take a 49-33 lead. CofC continued to dominate ODU down the stretch holding the Monarchs to 29 second half points, their lowest second half total of the season.
