
Charleston Wins Thriller Over William & Mary, 61-59

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The College of Charleston women's basketball team (13-9, 4-6) pulled out a 61-59 win over the William & Mary Tribe on Friday night inside TD Arena.
The game went down to the wire, with Arynn Eady getting a clutch steal and making two big free throws to contribute to the victory.
First Half
- The Tribe started the game 4-for-7 from the floor to grab an early 9-8 lead entering the first quarter media timeout
- William & Mary built a 14-10 lead, but the Cougars would finish the half on a 6-0 spurt behind threes from Latrice Perkins and Tyler Collins to take a 16-14 lead after one
- The Tribe regained a 20-16 lead, but CofC used a 7-0 run to take a 23-20 lead with 4:04 left until halftime
- In the second quarter, Charleston held William & Mary scoreless for over five minutes
- At the half, Charleston led 27-24
- Latrice Perkins led the Cougars with 10 points in the first half. Tyler Collins added seven points
Second Half
- The Cougars used built a 32-26 lead to start the second half, but a 7-0 run from William & Mary gave the Tribe a 33-32 lead at the 6:18 mark of the third quarter
- The Tribe made 7-of-9 field goals for a stretch of the third quarter that kept the Cougars from building a lead
- A pivotal moment came in the final minute of the third quarter when a William & Mary three-pointer was waved off after video replay showed the shot occurred after the shot clock expired. The overturned call resulted in CofC maintaining a 44-42 edge rather than the Tribe grabbing the lead
- After three, CofC held tightly to a two point lead
- Tyler Collins scored seven points in the third quarter to go along with two rebounds and an assist
- CofC scored the first four points of the final quarter to extend its lead to six, but back-to-back threes from William & Mary tied the game at 48-48 with 7:24 remaining in the game
- With the game tied at 52-52, the Cougars got two free throws from Arynn Eady and a layup from Latrice Perkins to grab a four point lead with 90 seconds to go
- William & Mary used back-to-back and-ones to fuel a 6-0 run and grab a 58-56 lead with 20.6 seconds left
- Jenna Annecchiarico went 2-for-2 at the free throw line to tie the game with 16 seconds left
- Arynn Eady stole the ensuing William & Mary inbounds pass and got fouled. Eady would make both to give CofC a 60-58 lead
- The Tribe got a trip to the free throw line after a foul call, but made just one of the two free throws.
- The Cougars would also go 1-for-2 at the line. The Tribe got the board, but the Cougars played great defense to prevent William & Mary from getting a game-winning shot attempt. The Cougars would come away with the 61-59 win after a thrilling final minutes
