- Charleston is coming off an emphatic 81-63 win over Northeastern on Saturday. The Cougars picked up their largest margin of victory in league play since Feb. 6, 2021 and largest overall since the 32-point win over South Carolina State to open the 2021-22 campaign back in November.
- The Cougars shot a sizzling 55.6 percent from the field in the second half to down Northeastern. CofC boasted a 17-to-11 assist-to-turnover ratio in the win, improving to 6-1 this season when posting a positive assist-to-turnover ratio.
- Senior John Meeks closed the door yet again, ripping off 22 points on 9-of-14 FGs vs. the Huskies to help CofC snap a 5-game losing streak in the series with Northeastern. Meeks has now scored in double figures in 14 of 17 game appearances, with CofC going 9-5 in those contests. He enters Thursday night's battle at William & Mary needing 35 points to join the 1,000-career point club.
- Junior Brenden Tucker has hit his stride of late, scoring in double figures in all three games during CofC's 2-1 homestand. Tucker led the Cougars with 14.3 PPG on 47.2 percent shooting overall and 43 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Tucker's offensive ability is key to CofC's success. When he's scored at least 12 points, Charleston is 8-2 this season with the only two losses coming by a combined four points (Delaware, Hofstra).
- CofC now turns to a 3-game road trip beginning with a return game at William & Mary on Thursday. The Cougars are looking for the first season sweep over the Tribe in program history. The Cougars downed William & Mary in thrilling fashion via a Meeks buzzer-beater on Jan. 11. CofC has never won a road matchup at William & Mary. A win Thursday would also give Charleston three consecutive victories over the Tribe for the first time in series history.
- The 1-point victory over William & Mary gave CofC its sixth win by four or fewer points.
- Senior point guard Dimitrius Underwood extended his streak of games with at least one steal to 17 vs. Northeastern. The CAA's steals leader is averaging 2.4 steals per game (9th nationally).
- Freshman Reyne Smith hit two 3s and finished with 12 points vs. Northeastern. He ranks second in the CAA in both 3s per game (2.9) and free throw percentage (94.3). Smith has missed one free throw since Nov. 22, making 20 consecutive entering the current road trip.
- Charleston outrebounded Northeastern on Saturday and hasn't been outpaced on the glass in a game since Dec. 12. The Cougars top the CAA and are the eighth-best rebounding team in the country and averaging the fourth-most offensive rebounds per game nationally this season.
