
Cougars Place Second, Third at North Points #5

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. --- The College of Charleston sailing team placed second and third at North Points #5 on Saturday and finished ninth at the Graham Hall Team Race on Saturday and Sunday in Annapolis, Md.
Charleston's coed team finished second with 15 points from three rotations with Chirstofor Tella, Jr. skippering A-Division to six points with Robert Silcox crewing. Ethan Homberger and Nina Lubchenco accounted for nine points in B-Division.
The Cougars' women's squad placed third in the regatta with 24 points paced by a 12-point showing by Emma Tallman and Rowan Schanley in A-Division. Emily Alfortish and Julia Jeffries won the third race in B-Division to finish fourth in the division with 12 points.
Charleston placed ninth at the Graham Hall Team Race on Saturday and Sunday after narrowly missing out on the top-eight after finishing mini group B with a 3-4 record. The Cougars would bounce back in 'Next 8' racing posting a 6-1 record with their only loss coming to Tulane as CofC won the tiebreaker with St. Mary's to claim ninth. Axel Stordahl, Max Anker and Brandon Geller skippered for the Cougars with Anna Sherry, Pierce Ornstein, Jack Sutton, Lucy Klempen, Noelle Owen and Chloe Hudgins rotating through at crew.
The Cougars return to the water on Saturday, March 26 and Sunday, March 27 with three regattas on the schedule. Charleston will travel to Wilmington, N.C. for North Points #6, Norfolk, Va. for the Aaron Szambecki Team Race and St. Mary's, Md. for the Seahawk Women's Team Race.
