
No. 53 CofC Men’s Golf Tees Off Palm Beach Gardens NCAA Regional Monday

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FLA. – The No. 53 College of Charleston Men's Golf squad tees off the 2022 NCAA Regional on Monday in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The Cougars will take on 13 teams vying for five spots at the NCAA Championships.
The Palm Beach Gardens NCAA Regional will be played at the Par 72, 7,048-yard PGA National Champion Course. Action tees off Monday morning at 7:30 a.m. ET with three rounds over three days from May 16-18. The top five finishing teams and the top individual not on the advancing teams will move on to the NCAA Championship later this month.
CofC faces Vanderbilt, Florida, Notre Dame, Florida State, Purdue, New Mexico, South Florida, Little Rock, Indiana, San Diego, Davidson, Loyola (Md.) and Charleston Southern at the NCAA Regional. The Cougars are the No. 9 seed, making their second straight NCAA Regional appearance and the ninth in program history. Head coach Mitch Krywulycz' squad heads to Palm Beach seeking a second NCAA Championship berth in program history and the first since 2001.
Charleston won the CAA Championship on April 26 to cement its spot at the NCAA Regional, the Cougars' sixth league title since 2014. Freshman Kieron van Wyk steamrolls into the postseason after winning the individual CAA Championship, becoming the first Black golfer in league history to win medalist honors at the conference tournament.
Van Wyk, fellow freshman standout Nevill Ruiter (2nd) and sophomore Zach Reuland (T-4th) all finished in the Top 5 at the CAA Championship two weeks ago. All three are ranked in the nation's Top 225 individually on Golfstat, headlined by Ruiter at No. 78. The trio, who all boast a scoring average of 72.12 or better, will lead Krywulycz' lineup at the NCAA Regional.
Joining Ruiter, van Wyk and Reuland is senior veteran Jack Parrott, who has competed in every event this season. Parrott is graduate transfer who has carded a scoring average of 72.5 this season and fired 10 rounds of par or better. Rounding out the lineup is Ty Sullivan in the fifth slot. Sullivan has played in 10 rounds this season.
