CHARLESTON, S.C. --- College of Charleston dropped a pair of straight-set decisions to Wofford and Coastal Carolina on Saturday to conclude play in the 2022 CofC Invitational.

Wofford (4-4) defeated the Cougars in straight sets by scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-22 in CofC's first match of the day holding the Cougars to 34 kills and a .139 hitting percentage. Charleston (3-6) then fell to Coastal Carolina (6-3) by scores of 25-16, 25-20 and 25-12 in the final match of the weekend.

After Charleston trimmed the margin to 20-18 in the first set, Wofford answered with five of the next seven points to take a 1-0 lead in the match. The Terriers would go on to sweep the Cougars en route to claiming the CofC Invitational championship.

Lexi Wierzbicki paced the attack with 20 kills on the day, including 13 against Wofford.
Freshman Olivia Mae Van Der Werff put down a season-high eight kills on 20 swings against Wofford and finished with 12 kills on the day.
Jasmin Goei and Tori Carpenter dished out 26 and 21 assists, respectively.
Avery Alexander and Chandler Manusky each accumulated 25 digs including 14 and 13, respectively, against Wofford.

Match Notes

With her third kill against Wofford, Wierzbicki recorded her 500^th kill as a Cougar.
Sofie Vogel dropped in three consecutive service aces in the third set against Coastal Carolina.
Bella Sinacori connected for a season-high five kills against Coastal Carolina.
