
Appel Paces Cougars in Final Round Tuesday

JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. – College of Charleston men's golf shot +2 (290) to finish even par and T-5th among a loaded field at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate in their final action of the fall season
Loran Appel, making his collegiate debut this week, paced the Cougars with a 71 (-1) for his best round of the week while Kieron van Wyk, Jack Tickle, Zach Reuland and Max Dupree all shot 73 (+1) in the final round. The freshman Netherlands native jumped 17 spots on the leaderboard Tuesday, one of the top-10 movers in the final 18 holes. His eagle on the Par-5 fourth hole was the second for the Cougars in the tournament.
Tickle and van Wyk led the way at 216 over three rounds (E) and T-21 on the individual leaderboard. Reuland placed among the Top-30 at T-27 with a 217 (+1) and the duo of Dupree and Appel shot 219 (+3), giving the Cougars an entire starting five within three shots of par.
Charleston finished ahead of six teams ranked in the Top-100 including No. 27 Loyola Marymount, No. 44 Florida Gulf Coast, No. 65 Liberty, No. 72 Rutgers, No. 91 Virginia Tech and No. 97 Penn State.
The Cougars were one of just three teams in the field to gain significant ground on the Par 5's shooting -20 overall behind only ETSU and Charlotte.
