Charleston to Sail in ACC Open Title, Yale Women’s Regattas

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- College of Charleston sailing will take part in an ACC Championship for a second-straight weekend after qualifying for the Open regatta hosted by St. Mary's College of Maryland.
Charleston skippers Noah Zittrer, Emma Tallman and Bejnamin Dufour, alongside crew members Lucy Klempen, Aiden Iaconis, Chloe Hudgins and Garrett Grenauer posted 245 points for a top-8 finish in the qualifier. This weekend sees the Cougars go up against a field of 18 teams and is one of just two SAISA teams to make the championship alongside Tulane with Zittrer, Klempen, Iaconis, Dufour, Noelle Owen, Grenauer, Grace Squires and Alex Gonzalez representing The College.
Last season saw the Cougars finish 13th in the ACC Finals with Zittrer and Dufour skippering and Klempen and Noelle Owen on crew. Zittrer and Klempen posted six top-10 finishes in their division while Dufour and Owen finished the weekend with a victory in their 11th rotation.
Charleston also sends a team to the Yale Women's Trophy Regatta for the first time in two seasons. In that fall 2021 regatta, skippers Grace Squires, Rowan Schanley, Fredrikke Foss and crew members Chloe Hudgins and Lucy Klempen combined for 250 points. Squires (races 1-6) and Schanley (races 7-15) skippered A Division while Foss skippered B Division.
Emma Tallman, Clara Murphy, Schanley, Emily Alfortish, Hudgins and Paige Lubrano will represent The College at Yale.
