Cross Country Teams Return to Spartanburg for NCAA Southeast Regional

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston returns to the Roger Milliken Center in Spartanburg on Friday to compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional cross country meet.
The women's 6k is at 11 a.m. followed by the men's 10k at noon. The 42-team field includes four from the CAA and a total of 10 from the SEC and ACC. Five men's teams and three women's squads are ranked in the top 30 in the nation.
The Cougars had some of their top times this fall at the same course a month ago when they competed in the Upstate Invitational. Mitchel Drees had an 8k time of 25:33.6 to move into a tie for seventh in school history, and Rhian Purves jumped from eighth to seventh with her time of 17:54.2 in the 5k.
Rob DiMedio (26:56.6) and Tucker Green (26:48.2) also had 8k PRs for the men in Spartanburg as did Maeve Gimbert (18:22.6) in the 5k for the women.
