
Department Sets New Academic Records

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston athletic department has set a new grade point average record following the fall 2023 semester. Charleston student-athletes helped achieve a 3.432 average department GPA.
"I am incredibly proud of our student-athletes and the dedicated staff who have worked to achieve another remarkable milestone. Our student-athletes commitment to both academic excellence and athletic achievement is truly commendable," said Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Academic Services Lizzy Lesley. "This record GPA is a testament to the hard work, discipline, and resilience that define our team. I am honored to lead such a driven group of individuals, and this accomplishment reflects the collective dedication to success both on and off the field. Congratulations to our student-athletes and staff for reaching new heights, setting a standard of excellence, and embodying the true spirit of our program."
This marks the eighth straight semester the athletic department has achieved a GPA average of over 3.20. 52% of student-athletes recorded a 3.50 or higher while 68% recorded at least a 3.20. 47 student-athletes achieved a 4.00 GPA.
Women's golf and men's cross country were the female and male programs with the highest team GPAs, while baseball, men's cross country, softball, women's soccer, equestrian all set program records.
Additionally, 11 student-athletes completed their degrees and graduated from the College of Charleston at December commencement:
