Saint Helena Island, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's golf team will attend the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Men's Golf Championship from April 23-25 at Dataw Island Club in Saint Helena Island, South Carolina.
Charleston most recently finished eleventh overall in the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational. Kieron van Wyk led the Cougars with a top ten finish and 6-under tournament.
The Cougars enter the CAA Men's Golf Championship as back-to-back champions. Sophomore Kieron van Wyk finished 13-under and Junior Nevill Ruiter went 10-under, finishing in first and second as individual placers in 2022. Junior Zach Reuland placed T-4 with a 212 and tournament-high 44 pars, giving Charleston a trio in the top 5 placements. Sophomore Tim Bertenbreiter finished 1-over 73 in the second round and 2-under 70 in the third, scoring for Charleston on both days as well.
van Wyk became the first Black golfer in CAA history to win individual medalist honors at the conference tournament.
