Durham, N.C. – Luzy Lieger and Kaitlynn Bailey broke their own school records, and Cayden Crismon entered the top 10 in the 5000 to lead the College of Charleston track and field team at the Duke Invitational.
For the second straight meet, Lieger improved her school mark in the pole vault, clearing 4.20m (13'9 1/4") to claim third place. Bailey twice ran a 12.19 in the 100 this season but lowered that to 12.15 on Saturday. Bailey also had times of 25.31 in the 200 to fall just .03 shy of her PR and 58.64 in the 400.
Crismon entered the Cougar record book for the second time in the last two meets. She posted a time of 17:54.96 in the 5000 on Friday to take over the No. 9 spot in school history, two weeks after recording the eighth-fastest time in the 3000 at the Weems Baskin Relays.
Rhian Purves lowered her PR in the 800 to 2:13.37, the third-best time in school annals. Emily Kreek's throw of 9.52m (31-2 ¾") in the shot put was .15m away from her PR.
The Cougars are off next week before competing in their final regular season meet at the USC Open on April 22. The CAA Outdoor Championships take place May 5-6 in Williamsburg, Va.
