Charleston Women’s Sailing Places Third, Advance to National Championships Race

KINGS POINT, N.Y. – College of Charleston women's sailing placed third in the Women's Eastern Semifinal with 90 points to qualify for the Women's National Championships.

Led by Grace Squires, Emma Tallman, Emily Alfortish, Chloe Hudgins, Roxanne Snyder, Rowan Schanley and Marina Dryer, the Cougars were able to get the first 12 races completed day one posting 70 points crossing the finish line four times.

Day two saw postponements until wind started filtering in allowing the final four races to complete. Charleston posted 20 points on day two to finish with 90 and third in the Eastern Division behind only Yale and the US Coast Guard Academy.

Charleston was one of just five in the field of 18 to post double digit scores joining Yale (72), US Coast Guard Academy (78), Cornell (91) and Tulane (95).

Charleston gets the National Championships underway Thursday on day one seeking a fourth women's national title in program history, competing against 17 other programs.
