CHARLESTON, S.C. — College of Charleston women's soccer head coach Christian Michner has announced the 2023 slate for the Cougars. Charleston will play 18 regular season contests which includes 12 against CAA opponents with 10 at Ralph Lundy Field at Patriots Point.
Charleston will begin the fall with an exhibition game against local rival The Citadel on August 11.
"We are really excited about the teams on our fall schedule and the different challenges that each will give us. The non-conference schedule is a mix of regional rivals with an opening weekend tilt against a monster from the Pac-12. That Utah match is exciting for our players and will be a real test early on to see where we're at. To be able to host a match like that is so exciting and I know that the players will be up for it," said Michner.
The Cougars will kick off the season at home against USC-Upstate on August 17 before hosing Utah on August 20. The College's first road trip will be at Coastal Carolina on August 27 before closing out non-conference play against Mercer (Aug. 31) and Georgia Southern (Sep. 3).
Charleston will start CAA play on September 7 at home vs. Hampton and continue conference play on the road at Towson (Sep. 10) and UNCW (Sep. 17).
"The CAA schedule is always a grind in one of the top leagues in the country. We will play everyone in the league this year so conference play starts earlier than past seasons and we will have to be at or near our best by early September."
The Cougars host Hofstra on September 21 and the newest member of the CAA Campbell on September 24.
Michner's program will head north for three games against Drexel (Sept. 28), Delaware (Oct. 1), and Northeastern (Oct. 5) and return back to their home pitch for three games against Stony Brook (Oct. 8), Monmouth (Oct. 12), and William & Mary (Oct. 15).
All College of Charleston soccer matches are free admission and open to the general public.
