CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston sailing team dominated the SAISA field over the weekend to open their fall 2023 season with a win on home waters claiming first place in both A and B Divisions posting 33 points – 35 better than second place.
The Cougars posted 14 points in A Division and 19 in B, the only squad to post a 20-or-lower and did so in both facets.
Noah Zittrer and Chloe Hudgins took care of business for the Cougars in A Division crossing the line ahead of the field twice and posting top-three finishes in five of their six rotations. Benjamin Dufour and Lucy Klempen handled B Division with ease posting 19 points behind three top-two finishes and no finish lower than sixth in their six rotations.
The win was the second in as many seasons for Charleston sailing in the SAISA Top-9 after claiming an 86-point win last season on home waters over Miami.
The Cougars return to action this next weekend with a trio of regattas including a pair of SAISA Singlehanded Championships down in Melbourne, Fla and the SAISA Top 6 Invitational across town on the Ashley River.
