RICHMOND, Va. – After anchoring a backline that posted a pair of shutouts, College of Charleston junior Shae Yocum has been named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week.
Yocum helped the Cougars gain a 0-0 draw with conference co-leader Hofstra on Thursday and a 1-0 victory over Campbell on Sunday. She played all 180 minutes and was an integral part of a defensive unit that limited the Pride and Camels to a total of 14 shots and only six on target.
Beginning with a win over Hampton on September 7, the Cougars have conceded only four goals in their last five matches. Yocum has been a mainstay on the pitch, playing 877 of a possible 900 minutes, the most on the team.
The Cougars are 2-2-1 in the CAA and tied for sixth with seven points. They begin a three-game road swing on Thursday at Drexel.
