Women Win Phoenix Invitational; Men Take Third

ELON, N.C. – The College of Charleston women took first place with all five scorers finishing in the top 10 at the Phoenix Invitational on Friday morning in Elon.
The men placed third with nine runners in the top 20. The race was the last one of the regular season and took place on the same course that will host the CAA Championships on November 1.
Caroline Himstreet paced the women by finishing second with a 6k time of 22:03.0, the 24th-fastest time in school history. She was joined in the top five by Savannah Stoutt (fourth, 22:15.4) and Sophia Brown (fifth, 22:21.0).
Cayden Crismon (eighth, 22:33.0) and Jeorgi Gavalas (10th, 22:39.0) rounded out the women's scorers. The team finished with 29 points to beat the host Phoenix by 23.
Jackson Reid was the top men's runner for the second time this fall by completing the 8k course in 26:19.7 to finish ninth. The Cougars dominated the second half of the top 20 with eight athletes in that group.
Charleston took spots 12 through 14, including Ben Ashmore (26:30.9), Andrew Catapano (26:31.9) and Rob DiMedio (26:41.0). Finn Myatt placed 16th and was the fifth Cougar scorer with a time of 26:51.9.
