
Cougars and Bulldogs Battle in City Clash

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's basketball team returns to action across Charleston at The Citadel on Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. The city battle was renewed in 2022 after a five-year hiatus.

- Charleston owns the all-time series record 46-9. The last Citadel victory was on February 8, 2010. The Cougars won the match-up a season ago 86-71 at TD Arena. Ante Brzovic led the returning Cougars with ten points and nine rebounds followed by CJ Fulton with five points and eight assists. AJ Smith, who transferred to Charleston this summer, paced the Bulldogs a year ago with 18 points going 6-9 from the field. Smith played two season at The Citadel before becoming a Cougar.
- Charleston is coming off a 1-1 weekend at The Field of 68 Tip-Off. Charleston defeated Florida Atlantic 119-116 in double overtime on Friday night before falling to Liberty on Sunday 68-47.
- The Cougars 116 points are the fourth most points scored in a Division I game in program history, with the top three performances all taking place in the 70s. However, Cougars' 47 points marks the lowest total points since 2016.
- Brzovic sank a game-winning triple as time expired to seal the victory over FAU on Friday night. His 39 points are a career-high and tie Charleston Hall of Famer and former NBA player Andrew Goudelock for the fourth most points scored in a game in school history. The Croatian currently ranks second in the nation in points per game (27.5) He also ranks fifth in the nation in defensive rebounds (8.75).
- The Cougars sit at 37th in the nation in three-point percentage entering Wednesday's contest.
- Ed Conroy, now in his third season as head coach, leads the Bulldogs with a 3-2 record entering the contest. The program has wins over Erskine, Stetson, and North Greenville, and is coming off a 82-73 loss to CAA competitor North Carolina A&T on Sunday.
- Senior Brody Fox leads the team in scoring with 19.0 ppg and a 66% field goal percentage. Fox posted 25 points on Sunday in the Bulldogs loss to North Carolina A&T.
