KINGSTON, RI – The College of Charleston men's basketball team dropped a non-conference match-up to Rhode Island 91-53 Sunday in New England.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Rams offense was firing early, going 4-5 from the field to take an 11-4 lead at the first media time out. Rhode Island grew the lead to 24-8 while the Cougars continued to struggle on the offensive end, going nearly four minutes without a basket and committing seven turnovers during the stretch.
Charleston shot 24% from the field in the first half compared to the Rams 53% to enter the locker room down 45-16.
The first half deficit was too much to overcome for the Cougars, ultimately falling 91-53.

KEY COUGARS

AJ Smith led Charleston with ten points and three rebounds followed by Derrin Boyd with nine points and four assists.
Ante Brzovic had six rebounds for the Cougars.

The Cougars shot 34% from the field in the contest.
