HONOLULU, HI – The College of Charleston men's basketball team opens the 2024 Diamond Head Classic on Sunday vs. Oregon State. Action is set for 3:00 p.m. est.

STORYLINES
- This is the second time the Cougars have participated in the tournament, going 1-2 in 2009.
- The Cougars are coming off a 77-67 win over Wofford on Monday night in Charleston behind a 23-0 second half run and 21 points from Ante Brzovic. The Croatian added seven rebounds, six assists, and a career-high five blocks.
- Deywilk Tavarez matched his Cougar high with 17 points, going 4-6 from three point range, while CJ Fulton dished out eight assists. The point guard also grabbed six rebounds while going 3-5 from the field.
- Charleston went 50% from three-point range for the second time this season vs. the Terriers. The team's 12 makes were the second most this season behind 15 in a double overtime win vs. FAU.
- Brzovic, the CAA Preseason Player of the Year, is one of 30 D1 players to make at least 30 consecutive starts at their current institution with 37 (and counting) at Charleston. He ranks 26th in the nation in points per game (19.5).
- Fulton has dished out 30 assists in the last four games with just five turnovers. He ranks third in the nation in assist/turnover ratio.
- Justas Stonkus enters the trip as the current CAA Rookie of the Week after scoring scored seven points in 15 minutes off the bench to help Charleston rally for a 78-75 victory at Saint Joseph's on Dec. 10. The Lithuanian added three rebounds vs. the Hawks and is averaging 11.0 ppg over his last three contests.
- Six different Cougars are currently averaging at least 9.5 points per game.
- Oregon State enters Sunday's contest 8-2, most recently defeating Sacramento State 82-45.
- Michael Rataj leads the Beavers averaging 16.7 points per game and 9.0 rebounds per game followed by Parsa Fallah with 12.1 points per game and 4.0 rebounds per game.
- Fallah ranks first in the WCC and 17th in the nation in field goal percentage at 64.6 pct while Rataj is one of 25 players in the nation with five or more double-doubles this season.
- Joining Charleston in Honolulu are Charlotte (American Athletic), Loyola Chicago (Atlantic 10), Murray State (Missouri Valley), Nebraska (Big Ten), Oakland (Horizon), Oregon State (West Coast) and tournament host Hawai'i (Big West).
- The Cougars will play either Loyola Chicago or Oakland in Monday's second round.
