Delaware Takes Rain-Shortened Series Finale

NEWARK, DEL. – Delaware took a rain-shortened 8-6 win over College of Charleston to take two of three in the first CAA series of the season.
The Blue Hens jumped in front with five runs in the bottom of the fifth on Saturday before the game was suspended by rain. The teams attempted to resume on Sunday but were unable due to unplayable field conditions.
The Cougars built a 5-0 lead before Delaware rallied. Charleston scored twice in the second on an error, got a sacrifice fly from Halle Cannon in the third and two more in the fourth on a double by Aniz Roman.
Ryley Kutter blanked the Blue Hens through three before a sac fly and two-run homer made it 5-3. Delaware then took advantage of five walks in its five-run fifth before the rains came.
The Cougars play at Georgia Southern on Wednesday at 5 p.m. before hosting Stony Brook in a CAA series next weekend at Patriots Point.
