Cougars Take Sixth at General Hackler Championship

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – College of Charleston finished sixth in a tightly-packed field at the General Hackler Championship that concluded Wednesday at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club in Myrtle Beach.
The Cougars had a three-round score of 868 which put them just four shots out of second place with Louisville winning the team title at 859.
Zach Reuland shot under par each round culminating with a 71 and a tie for sixth at 212 (-4). The senior had four more birdies over the final 18 holes, including three on the front nine, and totaled 13 in the tournament.
Loran Appel joined Reuland with a 71 in the final round and was T15 overall at 217 (+1), one shot ahead of Kieron van Wyk, who had an even par 72 on Wednesday and placed in a T17 at 218 (+2). Both players had four birdies on their final-round card.
Waymon Thomas (224, T46) and Max Dupree (225, T51) rounded out the Charleston lineup.
The Cougars return to action for the three-day Hootie Intercollegiate in Awendaw beginning this Sunday.
