
Men's Golf Competes for CAA Championship

Dataw Island Island, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's golf team will compete for the CAA title April 21-23 at Dataw Island Club in Saint Helena Island, South Carolina.
Charleston is the top-seeded team entering the Championship with a No. 55 ranking in Clippd. The Cougars last won the Championship in 2022, their sixth since joining the league in 2013-14. Charleston features four of the top eight ranked players in the national statistics, led by Zach Reuland.
Charleston most recently finished sixth overall in the Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tennessee. Kieron van Wyk led the Cougars with a T16 placement, his fourth straight top-20 finish this season.
The Cougars finished T4 in last year's CAA Men's Golf Championship with a 299 final round for an 878 tournament at 14-over to tie with William & Mary. van Wyk finished T5 with a 2-under in the individual standings, posting three birdies in the final round. Senior Max Dupree finished just outside the top ten at T11, rising four spots on the final day of competition.
van Wyk was selected as an individual to participate in the regional rounds of the 2023 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships. He finished the tournament 1-under for a T48 finish. He was named the CAA Golfer of the Year for the second straight season.
The Cougars begin play tomorrow at 9:30 a.m.
