Charleston Drops Series Finale to UNCW

WILMINGTON, N.C. - The College of Charleston softball team fell 8-3 to UNCW in the final game of the weekend series.
The Cougars struck first for the third time in the series after Aniz Roman opened the game with a single and was driven home by Brooke Tranum.
The Seahawks responded with a two-out rally that provided six runs in the second inning for a 6-1 lead.
Shealyn Starks hit a single in the third followed by Brooke Marquez' fifth double of the season, and Mia Dittoe hit a single to drive home both runs.
McKenna Kelly struck out two and only allowed one hit in her 3.2 innings of work.
The Cougars combined for 11 hits with Dittoe, Starks, Sierra Paradis and Halle Cannon each contributing two, but CofC could not complete the comeback over the Seahawks.
Charleston will continue its road stretch with a trip to Campbell next weekend. First pitch is set for Friday at 5:00 p.m. in Buies Creek, N.C.
