Charleston's Late Comeback Falls Short Against Monmouth

CHARLESTON, S.C.- College of Charleston women's basketball fell short to Monmouth on Friday night inside TD Arena, 59-55.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Cougars started the contest slow, ending the first frame down three points.
Back-to-back triples from Jami Hill tied the game in the second, but a 5-0 run from the Hawks gave them the lead. Monmouth entered the locker room at half with the eight-point advantage.
A late push in the fourth quarter erased a 12-point deficit, bringing the game within four with eight minutes remaining in the matchup.
Heading into the final minute, a clutch three-pointer from Taylor Barbot brought the deficit down to three. After a pair of missed free-throws from Monmouth with 11 seconds left on the clock, the Cougars were unable to convert at the arc.
The Hawks ended the game with one final free throw, bringing their lead to four and eliminating the Cougar comeback.

LEADING COUGARS

Taylor Barbot led the scoring for Charleston with 12 points, her tenth consecutive game with double-digit scoring.
McKinley Brooks-Sumpter added ten points for the Cougars, with Taryn Barbot and Jami Hill also scoring ten.
Leah Philpotts tallied a career-high 10 boards on the night, also leading the team with three assists.

UP NEXT
