CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's basketball team held on for an 87-85 win over Northeastern on Saturday at TD Arena to move to 5-1 in conference play.

- The Cougars and Huskies went a combined 11 for 14 from the field to start the. CJ Fulton dished out his 500th career assist to a cutting Ante Brzovic eight minutes into the half.
- After going nine minutes without a stoppage in play, Deywilk Tavarez sank a triple to give Charleston their first lead of the game at 22-20 with ten minutes to play. He extended the lead to 25-20 with another trey just a minute later.
- Three straight Cougar triples from Lazar Djokovic, Tavarez, and Derrin Boyd helped give Charleston a 39-31 edge with three minutes to play.
- Both teams shot over 50% in the frame, combining again for 9 of 12 from the field to end the half with Charleston on top 45-43. Tavarez had 17 points in the half on his way to a new career-high.
- After falling behind 55-49, a 45 second 6-0 Charleston run highlighted by an AJ Smith old fashioned three-point play put the Cougars within one at 58-57.
- The Cougars kept climbing back before back-to-back threes from Tavarez and Boyd tied the game at 67-67 and took the lead on another Boyd bucket.
- Charleston built the lead to 84-78 with two minutes remaining. A 7-2 Northeastern run made it a one-point game with 11 seconds left before a Fulton make from the free throw line and stellar defense sealed the Cougar win.

KEY COUGARS
- Tavarez had a career-high 32 points, going 11-17 from the field and 8-9 from behind the arc with four rebounds and zero turnovers.
- Brzovic recorded his ninth 20+ point performance this season with 24 points and nine rebounds.
- Boyd was the third Cougar in double-figures with 16 points and six rebounds.
- Fulton became the third Cougar to record 500 career assists, joining Anthony Johnson and AJ Harris in the record books.

GAME NOTES
- Charleston's 22 assists are tied for the most in a single game this season, as are the Cougar's six turnovers for lowest mark this season.
- Charleston shot over 50% from the field for the fifth time this season.
- The win marks the seventh time this season the Cougars have made 10+ triples.
