CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's basketball team hosts UNCW on Thursday night in CAA action. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at TD Arena.

STORYLINES

UNCW holds the 18-20 all-time series edge, winning both meetings a season ago. Prior to that, the Cougars had won three straight including a victory in the 2023 CAA title game to send the Cougars to March Madness. Seven of the previous eight meetings have been decided by single digits.
Charleston is coming off a thrilling 87-85 win over Northeastern on Saturday. Charleston's 22 assists vs. the Huskies are tied for the most in a single game this season, as are the Cougar's six turnovers for lowest mark this season. It was also the fifth time the Cougars had shot over 50% from the field this season.
Deywilk Tavarez was named the CAA Player of the Week for his efforts in the win over Northeastern and Campbell. The sophomore registered 23.5 points per game on 55.2 percent (16-29 FG) shooting from the floor with 11 made treys. He had a career-high 32 points and eight made 3-pointers vs. Northeastern. He also became the fourth CAA player this season to score 30-plus points and drain at least eight triples in a single game.
Chris Mack's squad currently ranks 27th in the nation in defensive rebounds per game (27.89). Individually, CJ Fulton leads the country in assist/turnover (4.58). The senior recorded his 500th career assists in the win over Northeastern.
Fellow senior Ante Brzovic ranks seventh in the country in total made field goals (140) and 16th in defensive rebounds per game (7.11). Sophmore Tavarez joins the upperclassmen, ranking 24th in three point percentage (44%).
Graduate student Derrin Boyd will look for his 11th straight contest in double-digit scoring the Seahawks. Boyd, Brzovic, Tavarez, and AJ Smith are all averaging in double-digits.

SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS

UNCW enters Thursday's contest 14-5 overall and 3-2 in CAA play. The Seahawks are coming off a 85-74 win over William & Mary on the Monday in Wilmington, handing the Tribe their first league loss of the season Bo Montgomery's career-high 24 points paced four Seahawks in double figures in the win.
Donovan Newby leads the Seahawks with 16.2 points per game followed by Khamari McGriff with 10.7. Sean Moore controls the glass, grabbing 6.4 rebounds per game followed by Harlan Obioha with 6.1
