EDISTO ISLAND, S.C. - Molly Hardwick sits in first place after the opening round of the Edisto Island Invitational at the Plantation Course in Edisto Island, S.C.

In windy conditions, Hardwick played a 1-over round with two birdies Sunday afternoon. The senior currently ranks second in the field in par 4 scoring (+1, 4.09) and third in par 5 scoring (-1, 4.67).

The Cougars are in third place (+16) in the team standings, one stroke behind second place Georgia State and six strokes behind leader Elon. 

Carys Fennessy joins Hardwick in the top five with a T5 finish (+3). Adrian Anderson and Emilie von Finckenstein turned in matching +6 rounds to end the day at T22. von Finckenstein sank four birdies during the round, the second most of any competitor. Emilia von Glahn rounds out the Cougar lineup at T59 (+13).

Charleston returns for the second round tomorrow morning in Edisto.
