MEDINAH, Ill.-
Carys Fennessy and
Molly Hardwick lead the Cougars into the final round of the Illini Women's Invitational at Medinah after two under par individual rounds.
Fennessy enters day two in second place at 7-under, two strokes out of the individual lead. Hardwick currently sits in T8 at 5-under. Both played bogey-free rounds with Hardwick's coming in the opening 18 and Fennessy's during the second round.
After two rounds, Charleston sits in eighth place at 5-under ahead of four Power 4 programs. The field features two national ranked programs and and 11 total Power 4 teams.
"It was a good day for the Cougars. We held our own in a tough field," said head coach
Jamie Futrell. "Congrats to Carys and Molly on their great days."
Fennessy totaled nine birdies on the day with Hardwick sinking eight.
Adrian Anderson played a 1-under opening round with three birdies on the front nine. The senior enters Tuesday at T32 (-1).Â
Charleston returns for the final round tomorrow at Medinah Country Club.
