Cougars Close Out Non-Conference Play with Win

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The College of Charleston men's basketball team closed out non-conference action with an 85-74 win at Northern Kentucky for the program's third straight victory.

- After trading points to start the contest, Charleston took a five-point lead at 17-12 with twelve minutes remaining in the half after back-to-back makes from Connor Hickman.
- NKU took their first lead since 5-4 on a three before Christian Reeves tied it shortly after at 22-22 with two makes from the charity stripe. The Cougars regained control, going a 12-1 run to kickstarted by triples from Jaxon Prunty and Chadlyn Traylor to create separation and enter the locker room up 40-30. Charleston shot 53% from the field in the opening frame, led by Prunty with 11 points.
- The Norse cut the lead to three out of the half before taking a 62-61 lead with nine minutes to play. The teams traded points before a 9-0 Cougar run highlighted by a Jlynn Counter three gave Charleston a 74-67 edge. Counter went on to score 11 straight points to seal the win.

KEY COUGARS
- Counter had a game-high 26 points, 11 rebounds and six assists for his first career double-double.
- Reeves recorded his second straight double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds.
- Hickman contributed 16 points while Prunty added 11.
- Djordje Curcic played a season-high 22 minutes.

- Charleston shot 55% from the field compared to 40% from the Norse.
- The Cougars narrowly won the rebounding battle 34-33.
- Charleston caused 17 NKU turnovers leading to 22 points. The Cougars dominated in the paint, earning 40 points compared to NKU's 28.
- Charleston led for 34:21 of the game. The Cougars have not lost a game this season when leading at halftime.
