CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's basketball team opened CAA play with a 72-63 comeback victory over Drexel Monday night at TD Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Drexel jumped out to a 13-2 lead, holding Charleston to just 10% from the field in the opening 12 minutes of play.
The Cougars went on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to seven with nine minutes to play, and made it a five-point game at 20-25 after back-to-back triples from Jlynn Counter and Colby Duggan.

Charleston tied the game 28-28 on another Duggan triple, making their final seven field goals of the frame. Drexel went on a 6-0 run of their own to end the half and enter the locker room up 34-28. Counter led the Cougars with 13 points in the opening 20 minutes.
Charleston tied the contest at 34-34 less than two minutes into the half before taking their first lead of the game on another Counter make.
The Cougars never looked back, shooting 60% from the field in the second half and holding Drexel to 1-7 from the field to end the contest.

KEY COUGARS

Counter scored a career-high 29 points to go with six assists and five rebounds.
Duggan contributed ten points in his Charleston debut back from injury.
Chol Machot was the final double-digit scorer of the evening for Charleston with 14 points, highlighted by several second half emphatic dunks.
Christian Reeves had a team-high seven rebounds followed by Machot with six.

GAME NOTES

Charleston shot 53% from the field overall compared to 40% for the Dragons.
The Cougars won the rebounding battle 34-30 and recorded a positive assist/turnover ratio for the ninth time this season.
Charleston earned 17 points off Drexel turnovers and scored 42 points in the paint.

The win marked the second time this season CofC has erased a halftime deficit.
The Cougars move to 18-10 all-time over Drexel and have now won four straight CAA season openers.
