Four Cougars Qualify for IHSA Regionals

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Four members of the College of Charleston IHSA equestrian team qualified for regionals on Saturday as the team was Overall Team and Regional Team Reserve champions. Junior Olivia Welsh was the Cacchione Cup Regional winner.

Welsh qualified for regionals in Open Flat and Fences, while sophomore Ella Muschlitz (Novice), senior Isabella Padula (Limit Flat) and freshman Kenda Murray (Open Flat) also rode their way to regionals.

"Our IHSA regular season finished extremely strong on Saturday earning the team champion win for the day, however fell a few points shy for the team region, claiming the reserve champion position overall for the year," said head coach Natasha Vitkovic. "Due to some very unpredictable weather coming in on Sunday, we chose to cancel the final day of regular season competition for the year and elected to put our horses and athlete's welfare first. We celebrate our Cacchione Cup Regional High Point winner and our regional qualifiers as we look forward to postseason at IHSA regionals in two weeks at Lander University."

The Cougars will compete in the IHSA Regionals on Saturday, March 1 at Lander.
