Men's Basketball Starts Northern Road Trip in Boston

CHARLESTON, SC - The College of Charleston men's basketball team will battle Northeastern for the second time this season on February 20 in Boston. Action is set for 7:00 p.m. at Matthews Arena.

STORYLINES
- Charleston enters the two game road swing 10-4 in the CAA in a three-way tie for third place with William & Mary and Campbell.
- Chris Mack's team is coming off a 69-59 win at North Carolina A&T on Saturday. Deywilk Tavarez led the Cougars with 20 points in his second game back from injury followed by Smith with 18.
- The Aggies' 59 points are the fewest allowed by the Charleston defense this season. The Cougars also assisted on 20 of their 23 made field goals, led by Fulton with 11 - good for the third most assists in a single game in program history.
- With the win, Chris Mack became the fourth first-year head coach in program history to reach 20 wins in the first season. It marks the 32nd 20+ win season for Charleston basketball in the last 50 years.
- Fulton leads the country in assist turnover ratio (4.69) and ranks eighth in total assists (169) and ninth in assists per game (6.5). Ante Brzovic joins Fulton in the rankings, sitting at tenth in total made field goals (194) and 13th in defensive rebounds per game (6.81). Tavarez ranks 12th in three point percentage (44%).
- Charleston won the previous meeting 87-85 on January 18 at TD Arena. After falling behind 55-49, a 45 second 6-0 Charleston run highlighted by an AJ Smith old fashioned three-point play put the Cougars within one at 58-57. The Cougars took the lead on back-to-back triples and a Derrin Boyd layup.
- Charleston built the lead to 84-78 with two minutes remaining before a 7-2 Northeastern run made it a one-point game with 11 seconds left. A CJ Fulton make from the free throw line and stellar defense sealed the Cougar win.
- The Cougars hold the 13-11 series edge and are winners of the last six vs the Huskies.
- The Huskies enter the contest 7-7 in league play and 15-12 overall.
- Current CAA Player of the Week Rashad King leads Northeastern with 18.3 points per game followed by Masai Troutman with 13.5.
- Harold Woods controls the glass with 7.4 rebounds per game followed by King with 6.4.
- King and Woods combined for 42 of Northeastern's 85 points in the first meeting between the programs this season.
