Cougars Take Second Place at Battle at Briar's Creek

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The No. 35 College of Charleston men's golf team finished in second place at the Battle at Briar's Creek to open the 2025 spring slate. The Cougars finished 13-under, six strokes behind winners NC State. The Cougars bested four Power 4 programs in the two-day event.
The Cougars led the field in par 4 scoring average (3.96) and were second in total pars (172). Individually, Nevill Ruiter led the field in par 4 scoring (3.80) and Kieron van Wyk ranked second in total birdies (15).
Miles Eubanks led Charleston with a T6, 5-under finish, just two strokes off of first place. The sophomore had a bogey-free second round and eight total birdies. van Wyk and Tim Bertenbreiter finished at T14 (-3). Bertenbreiter was one of 14 golfers to sink an Eagle, which he made on hole five during the second round. He also shot the Cougars' low round of the tournament with a 69 to open play on Monday.
Ruiter was the final Cougar to place in the top 20 at T18. The senior sank 11 birdies, including two back-to-back on eight and nine during the second round.
Charleston returns to action next week on February 10 at the Puerto Rico Classic hosted by Purdue.
