TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – College of Charleston lost, 2-0, to Florida Gulf Coast on a home run in the bottom of the seventh before falling to No. 8 Florida State, 8-0, at the Dugout Club Classic in Tallahassee.

- Mackenzie Mathis was working on her best outing of the season until a two-run homer in the seventh gave FGCU the victory.
- Mathis matched her season high with seven strikeouts and allowed only two hits.
- The freshman retired 12 in a row at one point and faced the minimum 15 batters from the second through sixth innings.
- The Cougars had their biggest threat in the first with singles by Karly Smith and Kaytlin Stacey.
