
Softball Plays First Road Games at the Dugout Club Classic

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston is on the road for the first time this season when the Cougars play in the Dugout Club Classic at JoAnne Graf Field in Tallahassee, Fla.
Charleston faces Mercer (10 a.m.) and Florida Gulf Coast (12:30 p.m.) on Friday followed by games against FGCU (10 a.m.) and host Florida State (5:30 p.m.) on Saturday. The Cougars wrap up tournament play against Mercer on Sunday at 10 a.m.
The game against the Seminoles will be broadcast on the ACCNX.
Jay Wrightsman leads the Cougars with a .333 average, 13 hits and six runs scored. Kaytlin Stacey is batting .286 with a team-high five RBI while in the circle Kendall Thackston has two wins, and Mackenzie Mathis has 22 strikeouts in 26.1 innings.
FSU is ranked No. 8 with an 11-3 record and has been one of the most dominant teams in the country over the past decade, including the 2018 national championship. Mercer is 7-6 with a Power 4 win over Illinois, and FGCU is 6-13 but won 38 games and the ASUN title last year.
The Cougars are 0-2 against FSU and haven't played the Seminoles since 2001. Charleston is 10-17 against Mercer (last meeting in 2005) and has never faced FGCU.
