BOSTON, MA. - College of Charleston senior Ante Brzovic has been named a finalist for the 2024-25 Lou Henson award, which is presented annually to the top player in mid-major in college basketball.
The Lou Henson award honors the former Illinois and New Mexico State head coach who won 775 games in 41 seasons.
Brzovic, a two-time All-CAA First Team recipient, finished the regular season averaging 18.5 points per game, 8.2 rebounds per game, and 2.9 assists per game. He ranks in the top three in the CAA in both points per game and rebounds per game, the only player in the top ten in both categories. He is currently seventh in the nation in total field goals (240) and 23rd in defensive rebounds per game (6.48). Brzovic scored in double-figures 29 times this season, crossing the 20+ threshold 15 times, while leading the league in field goal percentage (.544).
The senior from Croatia set career highs this season in points and field goals made, both in the Cougars double-overtime thriller vs. Florida Atlantic where Brzovic sank the game-winning three as time expired. His 2024-25 season will go down in the record books with the 11th most points in a single season (606), 8th most field goals made (240), and third most defensive rebounds (214).
Brzovic is the fourth Cougar to make the finalist list in the past three seasons, joining Ryan Larson (2022-23), Dalton Bolon (2022-23), and Reyne Smith (2023-24).
The recipient of the annual award is determined by a 10-member voting committee, which consists of current and former head coaches, as well as two senior staff members of collegeinsider.com. The 2025 award will be announced in San Antonio, TX, site of the men's Division I Basketball Championship.
