MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston staged a late rally but came up two runs short in a 4-2 loss to Winthrop on Tuesday evening at Patriots Point.

Game Summary

• The Cougars trailed 4-0 until showing a spark at the plate with Kaytlin Stacey and Kennedy Rhue producing singles in the fifth.
• Charleston broke through in the run column in the sixth with Jay Wrightsman starting it with a walk and stolen base.
• Pinch hitter Gracyn Hyatt singled in Wrightsman, and Hyatt moved to third on an Austy Miller base hit and wild pitch.
• Another pinch hitter, Karly Smith, brought home Hyatt with a single before the rally fell short.
• Lily Thorpe tossed four innings of relief and allowed only two hits and one run.
