HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – Sophomore Ella Muschlitz placed first and was the Zone 5 champion in the Individual Novice Flat on Saturday, advancing to IHSA Nationals.
Freshman Kenda Murray earned a sixth-place finish in the Individual Open Flat while junior Olivia Welsh took fifth in the Caccione Cup, ninth in the Individual Open Flat and tenth in the Individual Open Fences.
"I'm very pleased with our riders today," said head coach Natasha Vitkovic. "IHSA Zones (hosted by SCAD Equestrian) is a very competitive championship to compete in. It was this group's first attendance, and I feel they were all very well prepared for this event. They represented our entire program extremely well and held their own against the other talent in the show ring. We are excited for Ella and look forward to preparing her for IHSA Nationals in May!"
Muschlitz will compete in the IHSA Nationals on May 2 at the Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, N.C.
