CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston Athletics has announced Dex Blank as the Cougars' new Senior Associate AD for Development. In his role, Blank will lead the Charleston Athletic Fund and have oversight of athletics fundraising operations. He will also provide leadership that encourages the organization to meet today's funding needs including scholarships, revenue sharing for student-athletes, capital projects and other department needs.

Blank comes to Charleston after nearly five years at Old Dominion University, most recently serving as the Associate AD of Development and Sport Administration.

"I am thrilled to be joining the team at the College of Charleston," said Blank. "I am grateful for Matt Roberts, Kyle Denzel and the search committee for their belief in me and awarding me the opportunity to serve the College and its dedicated supporters."

During his time at Old Dominion, Blank helped the ODAF set records in 2022 for fundraising totals ($19.1M) and cash raised ($13M). He assisted the ODU team in raising over $51M towards the University's $500M capital campaign. Additionally, the ODAF increased the total number of donors each year Blank managed the annual giving program.

He was responsible for managing ODU's annual giving operations to bring in an average of $4.5M each year to provide resources for ODU Athletics Scholarships.

Additionally, he helped raise significant contributions in support of three major facility renovation projects: Bud Metheny Ballpark at the Ellmer Family Baseball Complex ($24M project), the Taylor Heinicke Football locker room at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex ($4.3M project), and a future project for ODU Men's and Women's Golf ($7.5M project).

Prior to ODU, Blank served as a Development Executive at the University of Oklahoma where he raised contributions for the Sooner Club in support of their new OU Softball Complex, improvements and additions to the OU Football Complex and the Switzer Center, and the advancement of their Inspiring Champions Fund to improve their departmental operations and the overall student-athlete experience.

Blank has also made stops at Ohio University, South Carolina, Duke University, and North Carolina during his career.

"We are excited to welcome Dex to Cougar Nation as our new Senior Associate AD for Development," said Director of Athletics Matt Roberts. "Dex brings a proven record of fundraising and relationship building success that will help position the department as a leader in the college athletics landscape."

Blank earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Elon University, where he was a four-year letter man as a golf student-athlete. He went on to earn both his Master of Sports Administration and Master of Business Administration degrees from Ohio University.
