Women's Soccer Travels to Monmouth for Conference Opener

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The College of Charleston women's soccer team travels to New Jersey for the first conference match of the season against Monmouth on Thursday, September 18 at 6:00 p.m. 

The Cougar's record is 4-3-1 entering CAA play. 

The Cougars are on a hot streak heading to New Jersey having won the last three matches by at least two goals. Most recently Charleston hosted Presbyterian at Patriots Point Sunday, September 14 where the Cougars defeated the Blue Hose 2-0. Charleston defense held Presbyterian to just one shot attempt on the afternoon. Sophomore Caitlyn Toubia was named CAA Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts to help lead the Cougars to back-to-back shutouts. 

In the last three games, six different Cougars have scored goals. Avery Nassetta scored one against North Florida and one against Gardner-Webb. Maggie Heffernan scored one against North Florida and one against Presbyterian. Faith Slimmer scored once against North Florida and once against Gardner-Webb. Millie Cluxton and Emma Wennar scored one goal each against Gardner-Webb. Bella Antonio scored two goals over the weekend against Gardner-Webb and Presbyterian. 

Charleston women's soccer has outscored all opponents 15 to eight taking 143 shots to its opponent's 57. The Cougars have 11 assists on the season compared to their opponent's 5. The Cougar offense has forced 51 corners this season compared to all opponent's 22. 

Monmouth is 5-2-1 on the 2025 season with a 3-1 home record. Most recently, Monmouth traveled to New York City to play Columbia which ended in a 1-1 draw. 

Thursday's game will mark the second all-time matchup between the Cougars and the Hawks. The first meeting was in October of 2023 at Patriots Point following the Hawks move to the CAA when Monmouth topped Charleston 2-0. This will be Charleston's first trip to West Long Branch.
