
Men's Basketball Travels to Hofstra

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The College of Charleston men's basketball team travels to Long Island to take on the Hofstra Pride Thursday, January 29. Action is set for 7:00 p.m. in Hempstead.

STORYLINES
- Charleston holds the slight 11-10 all-time edge over the Pride and are winners of the last three meetings. This is the first of two contests between the programs this season.
- The Cougars, who are 13-8 overall and 6-2 in league play, are coming off an 80- 70 win over Elon on Saturday, January 24. It was the largest margin of victory for Charleston in a CAA game so far this season. Chris Mack's program controlled the contest from the start, leading for 39:16.
- Redshirt junior Christian Reeves was named the CAA Player of the Week after his career defining performances vs. Campbell and Elon. The Charlotte native averaged a double-double with 25.0 ppg and 13.5 rpg. The Cougars' big man went nearly perfect from the floor with an 87.0% shooting clip from the field (20-23 FG). He also logged 10 of his 27 rebounds on the offensive glass. He was the only player in the nation during last week's slate to rank in the top eight in field goal percentage, rebounds, and rebounds per game.
- Junior Colby Duggan surpassed 700 career points with his 17 vs. Elon. He is one of four Cougars averaging double-figure points per game led by Jlynn Counter with 15.8, Connor Hickman with 12.7, Duggan with 12.4, and Martin Kalu with 10.5.
- Counter scored in double-figures for 11 straight contests, ending the streak against the Phoenix. He was the first Cougar since Grant Riller in 2019 to have 10+ double-figure scoring outings in a row.
- Charleston is one of the top teams in the country in getting to the charity stripe, ranking 30th in free throw attempts per game (25.5) and 27th in free throws made per game (18.8). The Cougars also rank 44th in defensive rebounds per game (27.24).
- Individually, Chol Machot is ninth in the nation in total blocks (52) and 13th in blocks per game (2.48) entering Thursday's contest.
- Hofstra enters Thursday 13-8 overall and 4-4 in CAA play. After opening conference play with four straight victories, the Pride have lost their last four contests.
- The Pride are led on the offensive end by Cruz Davis with 22.0 ppg followed by Preston Edmead with 15.4. Victory Onuetu controls the glass, grabbing 8.2 rpg.
- Davis currently leads the league in scoring while Edmead ranks ninth. The Pride also boast the league's top three point percentage (0.379) and most three-pointers made so far this season (203).
