Cougars Finish 11th at ITA Carolina Regional Championships

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's tennis team finished 11th out of 22 teams at the ITA Carolina Regional Championships, held Oct. 15-20 at the University of South Carolina. The Cougars competed in singles and doubles action throughout the tournament.
In doubles, Riley Trinkle and Aneta Holubova opened with an 8-3 victory over UNC Greensboro's Cedeno and Bushnell before falling to top-seeded Osuigwe and Gilheany of NC State, 8-2, in the round of 32. Ella DeFord and Oziera Ahmad advanced to the round of 16 after defeating Queens' Senior and Hogan, 8-7, and Wake Forest's Nisbet and Bulger, 8-5. Paula Dougherty and Sophia Kovacheva fell to Furman's Hitchcock and Robinson, 8-2, while Marra Bruce and Saige Severance dropped their opening match to Furman's Warren and Murphy, 8-2.
In singles, Trinkle recorded a three-set victory over East Carolina's Reese Calvo, 5-7, 6-3, 6-3. Aneta Holubova also earned a win in additional singles action, defeating Clemson's Sophie Clayton, 6-3, 6-1.
