
Cougars Win Hootie at Bulls Bay!

AWENDAW, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's golf team won the Hootie at Bulls Bay tournament in record breaking fashion on Tuesday. Charleston turned in a -35 card, winning by six strokes over second place South Carolina. The Cougars set a new program low round record with a -23 opening round and a program 36-hole record going -41 through two rounds.
The Cougars battled through windy conditions during Tuesday's final round to hold on for the program's second victory of the spring season following the win at the Wexford Intercollegiate. Charleston defeated four top 50 programs and six Power 4 programs on the way to victory.
Charleston led the field in par 4 scoring (3.94), par 5 scoring (4.60), total eagles (7), and total birdies (58).
Loran Appel was the top Charleston finisher in the individual standings with a runner-up, -11 finish. The junior paced the field following the opening round (-8), recording the lowest individual round of the season for the Cougars. He led the field in total birdies (17) and par 3 scoring (2.67).
Miles Eubanks was one stroke behind Appel in third (-10). The sophomore sank three eagles in the competition to go with 12 birdies. This is Eubanks second top three finish of the season after winning the Wexford Intercollegiate.
Nevill Ruiter and Johan Bredenkamp joined Appel and Eubanks in the top ten, finishing T7 (-6).
Charleston returns to action April 6-7 at the Liberty Invitational in Lynchburg, Va. before the 2026 CAA Men's Golf Championship.
