College of Charleston Athletics

Cameron Ruppe joined the College of Charleston cross country and track & field coaching staff in August 2019 and will work with the distance runners.

Ruppe spent the past season as the distance coach at Buena Vista (Iowa) University. He helped athletes earn 15 Top 10 performances as well as five school records while his men’s cross country team turned in their best regional finish in nearly a decade.

While attending and competing at Winthrop, Ruppe was an assistant coach and head distance coach at Rock Hill High School. During that time, Rock Hill won four team regional titles and had 15 individuals become regional champions. Eight athletes earned all-state honors with three finishing as state runners-up.

Ruppe was a four-year letterman at Winthrop and was a two-time scorer at the Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the steeplechase, taking fourth in 2017 and seventh in 2015. He was on the Dean’s List six times and received his bachelor of science degree in special education in May 2018.
