The Cougars drop to 1-6 overall and 1-2 in the SoCon, while the Wildcats improve to 5-4 and 2-0.
The College of Charleston shot 37.9 from the field in the first half and led by one with 1:24 left at 25-24, before Davidson rattled off seven straight to end the half with the six-point, 31-25 lead. The Wildcats shot 44.0 percent in the first half and held the 17-16 edge in rebounds.
Davidson opened the second half with a 15-5 run to go up by 16 points with 12:18 left in the game and held at least a double-digit lead the rest of the game, going up by as much as 19 with 24 seconds left before a three-pointer by Rachel King cut the lead to 16 where it would end, 65-49.
The Wildcats finished the game with a 41.1 field goal percentage, while the Cougars shot 34.6. Charleston was nine-for15 from the line (60.0 percent), while Davidson was 14-for-24 for 58.3. Davidson out-rebounded the Cougars 40-35 and had fewer turnovers at 20-23.
Following Hamilton's 18 points was Meghan Bryant with 15 and Emily Callahan with her 11. Hamilton also paced the Wildcats with six rebounds. King led the Cougars with 15 points, while Erica Nesmith followed with 11. Eliza Kucharska tied her career-high with seven rebounds.
The Cougars travel to Georgia Southern Dec. 22nd for a 7:00 PM contest, while the Wildcats host Western Carolina the same day, also at 7:00 PM at Belk Arena.
